Elfi is a dancer and choreographer and professor for dance at the Teachers University Zürich. She danced for many choreographers and performed her own work in New York, San Diego, Mexico, Germany, Austria, India, Africa and throughout Switzerland, and at various dance festivals in Europe, the United States and Mexico. She studied sports at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich (ETH) and dance at the Zurich School of Dance Theatre (Zuerich Tanztheaterschule), at the University of California in San Diego, in New York and Paris.

Jochen is a director, dramaturg, and biochemist. 1991-1995 he was in the DanceLab Berlin together with Norbert Servos and Tatjana Orlob. Since 1997 he is part of Tanzprojekt Elfi Schaefer-Schafroth. He also worked as biochemist at the Max-Planck-Institute for Molecular Genetics in Berlin, Institute for Medical Virology at the University of Zurich, Qiagen Instruments and Tecan.

Martin studied product and interior design at the HdKZ and founded his own design business in 1981. Since 1991 Martin is responsible for the design and production of stage sets for the Tanzprojekt Elfi Schaefer-Schafroth.
